Jammu Police have arrested another accused and recovered arms in a Pakistan-linked narco-terror case in which multiple arrests have already been made.

The arrest marks significant progress by the South Zone of Jammu Police in a high-profile case registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station. The case involves an inter-district, inter-state and cross-border narcotics and arms syndicate, unearthed following a deep, sustained and professional investigation.

After the nexus was exposed, police constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the links. In this connection, the SIT arrested Rohit Kumar alias Makhan, a resident of Raiyan Kotliyan in the RS Pura area of Jammu.

Acting on the accused’s disclosure, the SIT conducted a search at his residence, leading to the recovery of one pistol (Px5 Storm Beretta, .30 bore), one magazine and three live rounds.

“The recovered arms and ammunition have been seized in the instant case. The accused is presently in police custody, and further interrogation is underway to establish his exact role, backward and forward linkages, and arms supply routes,” a police statement said.

Earlier, on November 14 last year, Gandhi Nagar Police registered a case under Sections 8, 21, 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act and Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after apprehending two persons during patrolling. The arrests subsequently led to the exposure of a well-organised narco-terror module.

During the course of the investigation, multiple accused — including peddlers, financial handlers and jail-based facilitators — were arrested. Police also recovered nearly 5 kg of a heroin-like substance, three pistols, live ammunition and a modified vehicle, revealing cross-border linkages.

The statement further said that efforts are being intensified to identify and apprehend the remaining associates, trace financial and logistical channels, and establish complete cross-border and inter-state linkages.

“Jammu Police remains firmly committed to dismantling narco-terror ecosystems, neutralising criminal networks, and ensuring the safety and security of the youth and citizens of Jammu,” the statement added.
