The app works even if the Internet speed is slow.

“While studying, students face problems in either understanding the concepts or in solving questions. The doubts are not cleared in real time, because they don’t have access to teachers at home. They either have to wait for their next class or they have to search online. To overcome these problems, the alumni of IITs developed the app. Through the app, the doubts are solved in real time from experts for free,” said M Athar, one of the developers of the app.

Athar and Faisal Rafiq, both are from IIT-Kharagpur, and Huzaib Ul Hassan is from IIT-Roorkee.

“Filo works very well on 2G, and is totally ad-free and secured. Our tutors are from IIT-Kharagpur, IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Dhanbad, IIT-Guwahati, DTU, NIT Srinagar, GMC, Nilratan Sircar Medical College, Kolkata. At present, the students can clear their doubt between 10 am and 6 pm. In future, we will extend the timing till 10 pm,” said Athar.

He said: “In a week, we have 500+ students enrolled in our app, and to date more than 1,000 questions have been asked. The app ensures complete anonymity of students, and the students’ camera remains off by default. The app helps students to get in touch with people who’ve already aced highly competitive exams of national level,” he said. — TNS
