Army jawan killed, Major among 2 hurt in Pak firing

Jammu, September 15

An Army jawan was killed, while two others, including a Major, suffered injuries as Pakistani troops violated ceasefire by using heavy fire and mortar shells along the Line of Control (LoC) in Sunderbani, Rajouri district.

Jammu-based defence spokesperson said, “In the afternoon, Pakistan initiated the unprovoked ceasefire violation. Some injuries have been reported."

The violation was reported in the Mala area, manned by 17 Madras Unit of 28 Infantry Brigade, of around 1.20 pm.

Sources said one of the injured soliders -- a rifleman -- succumbed to his injuries, while two others, including a Major, were shifted to the Army Hospital in Akhnoor.
