Jammu, August 4
To enhance voter awareness and encourage all eligible voters to get registered in the electoral roll, the District Election Authority, Srinagar, organised scores of awareness and voter registration programmes in different educational institutions and other public places.
The electoral awareness and voter registration programmes were held on the directions of the District Election Officer (DEO), Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat as a part of Second Special Summary Revision-2024 notified by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and Chief Electoral Office, J&K, to facilitate the new eligible electors having attained the age of 18 years or above as on July 1, 2024.
Throughout these campaigns, various programmes were conducted to educate the general public on the importance of voting and the electoral process.
These sessions provided valuable information on voter registration procedures, eligibility criteria, and the significance of participating in elections.
The experts in these sessions emphasised the importance of every eligible citizen’s participation in the democratic process and urge that informed and inclusive voters are essential for a robust democracy.
The programs saw enthusiastic participation from local communities, with a noticeable number of students and young voters.
The Booth Level Officer also actively participated in the awareness programme to make online registrations of eligible voters.
