Div Comm reviews preparations for ‘Nasha Mukt J&K’ padyatra in Srinagar

Emphasises meticulous planning to ensure smooth conduct of event

In preparation for the Nasha Mukt J&K Padyatra scheduled for May 3, Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Anshul Garg on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to review arrangements, stressing precision, coordination and seamless execution.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the DIG Central Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Commissioner SMC, Director Information and Public Relations, Director Health Services, SSP Traffic, and heads of departments such as School Education, Higher Education, Transport, Culture, Hospitality and Protocol, and Tribal Affairs.

The Divisional Commissioner emphasised meticulous planning and effective inter-departmental coordination to ensure the smooth conduct of the padyatra and associated events. He directed all departments to formally invite stakeholders and special guests in advance.

He reviewed arrangements at the Football Stadium, the designated venue for the flag-off ceremony, as well as along the route and at the culmination point. Officials were instructed to install pandals and ensure adequate seating for VVIPs, dignitaries and participants.

He directed that participants must reach the venue before 7:30 am to ensure timely commencement of the event.

Regarding transportation, a designated nodal officer was tasked with preparing a comprehensive plan for the movement of students and participants, ensuring adequate availability of vehicles at designated points.

The Information Department was assigned the responsibility of enhancing outreach through a public address system, preparation of a theme-based video, display of an anti-drug pledge on digital screens and creation of thematic flags and banners.

To boost public engagement, the Divisional Commissioner also directed the formation of a human chain by students from the venue up to Polo View.

The Deputy Commissioner Srinagar was asked to ensure the availability of essential services along the entire route of the padyatra.

The Cultural Department was tasked with organising performances, including songs and thematic presentations, within a stipulated timeframe. The Hospitality and Protocol Department was directed to distribute refreshments to participants in advance, while making separate arrangements for VVIPs and dignitaries.

Security and crowd management will be handled by the Police Department, which will also deploy a police band for the event.

The Divisional Commissioner reiterated that the padyatra is a significant initiative aimed at promoting a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir and called for coordinated efforts from all departments to ensure its success.
