Doctors scuffle with BJP MLA over patient's death in Udhampur

Tension erupted at a meeting chaired by BJP MLA Pawan Gupta from Udhampur West, where doctors argued heatedly and attempted to snatch his microphone.

Gupta, MLA from Udhampur West constituency, was addressing senior district officials at Associated Hospital, Government Medical College (GMC) Udhampur. The gathering aimed to probe allegations of medical negligence after a patient’s recent death, reportedly due to absent staff.

Videos of the clash went viral on social media. Officials said some doctors misbehaved with the MLA.

The row escalated when Gupta confronted staff over public complaints. He questioned them on the allegations, prompting a group of doctors to approach and grab for his microphone.

Following the death, Gupta had protested, demanding action against errant doctors. He also urged hospital authorities to track the on-duty doctor’s location at the time.
