In a major drive, the Forest Department has recovered 46 kanal forestland in the Shivaliks from encroachers.
A anti-encroachment drive was launched in the forest compartment of Jindrah range falling in Jeeda, Darsoo village and a team assisted by the police demolished illegal structures constructed by Hem Raj and Govind Ram.
The team of the forest officials was led by Ravi Kumar, Range Officer Jindrah; Vinod Kumar, Range Officer, Kalidhar, along with Ajay Choudhary, Block Officer, Jindrah.
“We are again warning all encroachers to remove their structures and not to indulge in illegal activities in forests. We will regularly launch such drives in the coming weeks,” said Alok Maurya, DFO, Jammu.
Officials said a joint team of the Forest Department and Police Department has been constituted for the removal of encroachment across the forest areas of Jammu and strict action would be taken against all indulging in encroachment.
