“I believe that Bapu remains a living guide for today’s world. His philosophy of non-violence, truth, and self-reliance is as relevant today as it was during India’s independence struggle, offering timeless wisdom to address contemporary crises and bridge divisions threatening global harmony,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor spoke about Jammu and Kashmir’s unwavering commitment to peace and highlighted the lasting relevance of Gandhian values that have guided generations. “The world and global society are changing rapidly, and humanity is facing new challenges. Amid such turbulence, Mahatma Gandhi’s calm yet powerful voice continues to offer strength and direction,” he said.

He added that Gandhi demonstrated through his life and work that meaningful change requires not just strength, but character and sustained effort. “Bapu envisioned that by safeguarding fundamental rights—human dignity, equality, justice, welfare of the marginalised, and the rights of women and youth—we can build an unshakeable society even in the face of the gravest challenges,” he said.

Calling upon the younger generation, Sinha urged them to recognise non-violence as a form of supreme courage rather than weakness. He noted that through sacrifice and Satyagraha, Gandhi showed that non-violence is practical and actionable wisdom.

“Throughout his life, Gandhi ji advocated dialogue over vengeance, compassion over anger, and understanding over confrontation. He demonstrated that moral values are humanity’s greatest strength and most precious treasure,” Sinha said.
