IIM-Jammu starts management course for military personnel

The course will conclude on June 22 and is aimed at enhancing the professional skills of retiring Armed Forces personnel.
It is designed to equip Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and Other Ranks (OR) with modern management knowledge, facilitating a smooth transition into the corporate sector or enabling them to take up roles such as Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs).
A total of 32 participants from the Army, Navy and Air Force are attending the programme, bringing rich operational experience and strong leadership qualities. The curriculum focuses on logistics, supply chain management and process efficiency.
The programme is being conducted under the guidance of the faculty and staff of IIM, Jammu, including Dr Jabir Ali, Dean (Faculty & Research), Dr Kapil Gumte, Programme Director, and Prashant Mishra, Chairperson – Executive Education, who are providing academic direction and institutional support.
The course was formally inaugurated on April 9 with an opening address by Brigadier GP Chamoli of Northern Command, who highlighted the importance of continuous and structured learning for success in the corporate world. He also urged IIM, Jammu, to provide equal opportunities to participants, noting they would serve as ambassadors of both IIM, Jammu and the armed forces.
