Industrial council team meets CM Omar, discusses key reforms to boost economy
A delegation from the ASSOCHAM J&K Council, led by Chairman Manik Batra and Co-Chairman Bhupesh Gupta, met with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to discuss key issues and present a comprehensive set of proposals aimed at fostering economic growth and development in the region.
During the meeting, the delegation raised several critical concerns and proposals, including the Change of Land Use (CLU) for industrial growth, an electricity amnesty scheme for industrial units, the development of a tourism circuit in the Jammu region, the establishment of additional warehousing and fulfilment centres, conversion of leasehold to freehold land, and the introduction of infrastructure and commercial projects under J&K incentives.
The CM expressed appreciation for ASSOCHAM’s proactive approach in addressing the challenges faced by the business and industrial community. He assured the delegation that the government would review their proposals in detail and take necessary actions to support the region’s economic growth.
Manik Batra commented, “Our discussions with the CM were fruitful, and we are optimistic that our recommendations will lead to impactful policy decisions for the benefit of J&K’s industrial and commercial sectors.”
Bhupesh Gupta emphasised the council’s commitment to work closely with the government to ensure the successful implementation of these proposals. “ASSOCHAM is dedicated to creating a conducive environment for different businesses to thrive in Jammu & Kashmir,” he said. Gupta stated that the ASSOCHAM J&K Council continues to advocate for policies that promote sustainable economic growth in the region.
