Jammu Police, BSF conduct searches in Arnia sector ahead of Independence Day

Jammu Police, along with the Border Security Force (BSF), on Sunday conducted a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the Arnia sector as part of security preparations for Independence Day celebrations in Jammu and Kashmir.

Police and personnel of the 60th Battalion of the BSF conducted searches in the Aik Nallah, Kool Kalan and adjoining areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Arnia.

During the operation, around 10 to 15 houses and kullas were thoroughly searched by the joint teams.

“The operation was conducted as part of security and surveillance measures to maintain vigilance and ensure the safety and security of the area. The situation remained normal throughout the operation,” an official said.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti chaired a high-level security review meeting to assess security and policing arrangements for Independence Day celebrations across the Jammu zone.

The meeting was co-chaired by Asif Jalal, Inspector General, BSF Jammu Frontier, and Amol V Homkar, Inspector General, CRPF Jammu Sector.

The deliberations focused on the overall security situation, threat assessment, anti-terror measures, area domination, intelligence coordination, border security, protection of vital installations, traffic management, deployment planning and contingency preparedness for the Independence Day celebrations.

The IGP Jammu directed all officers to maintain the highest level of alertness and ensure seamless coordination among security agencies. Special emphasis was laid on inter-agency coordination, quick-response capabilities, communication preparedness and implementation of comprehensive security protocols to ensure peaceful and secure celebrations throughout the Jammu zone.

The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Army, J&K Police and Central intelligence agencies.
