Jammu railway division sets new punctuality record
Records an exceptional punctuality rate of 94.12 per cent on July 31
The Jammu Division of Northern Railway on Monday said it had set a new benchmark for efficiency by recording an exceptional punctuality rate of 94.12 per cent on July 31.
In a statement, the division said it had achieved its highest-ever single-day punctuality record for Mail and Express trains.
The new record surpassed the division’s previous best performance of 92.59 per cent, recorded on February 20, 2025. The achievement is particularly significant as it came amid large-scale infrastructure modernisation work and multiple major traffic and maintenance blocks across the network, it said.
Railway officials said complex technical tasks were carried out alongside routine maintenance without disrupting passenger travel.
“The power of precise planning and teamwork lies behind this statistical achievement,” the Railways said, attributing the performance to coordination between ground staff and management teams.
It said the Control Office served as the nerve centre of the operation, with constant monitoring, careful planning and quick decision-making helping avert potential delays.
“The dedication demonstrated by officials, trackmen, engineers and technicians reflects the Railways’ commitment to passenger safety and the value of their time,” it said.
The division said the achievement demonstrated that infrastructure development and passenger convenience could go hand in hand.
