Jammu University holds counselling for BCom aspirants

The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), University of Jammu, on Tuesday organised the second day of its pre-admission counselling session for Bachelor of Commerce aspirants for the academic session 2026-27.

Deepti Abrol and Avantika Bakshi, teachers-in-charge of Commerce, addressed the prospective learners and apprised them of the structure of the BCom programme, curriculum framework and career prospects in commerce and allied fields. They also highlighted the growing relevance of commerce education in the present competitive and technology-driven business environment.

Jaspal Singh, BEd coordinator, motivated the students to actively engage in the learning process and make effective use of the academic support services provided by CDOE.

Earlier, Prof Anupama Vohra, PG English coordinator, welcomed the prospective learners and highlighted the significance of distance and online education. She emphasised the importance of self-learning materials as an effective academic support system and encouraged students to develop confidence and remain motivated in their academic journey.

Prof Vohra also informed the learners about the dual degree option and the academic, extracurricular and student support facilities available at CDOE.

Prof Anju Thapa, PG Hindi coordinator, said degrees earned through distance education held the same academic value and credibility as those obtained through conventional modes of study, as they were offered in accordance with the norms and guidelines of the relevant regulatory authorities.

She said students graduating from CDOE were equally eligible for higher studies, competitive examinations and employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors.

Around 100 candidates attended the counselling session and sought clarifications regarding admissions, examinations, study material and learner support services.
