Jammu's Special Crime Wing conducts searches in visa fraud case
Accused defrauded several residents of RS Pura tehsil on the false pretext of arranging working visas
A team of the Special Crime Wing (SCW), Crime Branch Jammu, conducted searches on Saturday in connection with a visa fraud case in RS Pura area.
The searches were conducted after obtaining warrant from the competent court in connection with an FIR registered under Sections 420 and 120-B IPC at Police Station, Special Crime Wing, Jammu.
“The search was carried out at the residence of main accused Kartik Choudhary, son of Gurnam Singh, a resident of Purana Pind near SBI Bank, RS Pura, in the presence of the executive magistrate and local police. The accused is alleged to have defrauded several residents of RS Pura tehsil by collecting substantial sums of money on the false pretext of arranging working visas for their family members to travel abroad. Initially, the amount involved in the fraud was less which has subsequently increased to approximately Rs 90 lakhs so far, as more complaints started approaching the agency,” a spokespersons said.
He said that the Special Crime Wing is continuing with its impartial and speedy investigation to unearth further evidence and to identify any other persons who may be involved in the commission of the offence.
The search team was led by Inspector Kali Charan, Investigating Officer, SCW Jammu.
