J&K Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra on Sunday said that BJP has transformed Jammu and Kashmir from a thriving tourism hub to an experiment laboratory.

According to a statement on Sunday, Karra strongly reacted to the claims made by BJP leaders regarding transformation in Jammu and Kashmir. “While transformation is indeed happening in J&K, it’s not what the BJP claims. Instead, the region has been transformed from a thriving tourism hub to an experiment laboratory,” he said.

He added that “BJP’s so-called ‘transformation’ has only led to chaos and suffering for the common people.”

“We, on the other hand, took practical and diplomatic steps to restore peace in J&K during our tenure until 2014, without treating our citizens like experimental animals or turning our state into a laboratory,” he added.

Karra emphasised that the “Congress government’s efforts yielded tangible results that were felt by the people of J&K”. He urged the BJP to prioritise the state’s interests over party politics and adopt people-friendly policies.

“The BJP should behave responsibly, putting the needs of J&K first, rather than exploiting the situation for political gains. The people deserve better than to be used as pawns in their political games,” he said.
