The move is aimed at ensuring immediate operationalisation of governance structures
A day after the formation of five new districts, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Tuesday approved the appointment of Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) in these districts so that administrative work commences immediately.
With this prompt action, the posts of DCs and SPs in all five new districts – Nubra, Sham, Changthang, Zanskar, and Drass – have been filled.
The move is aimed at ensuring immediate operationalisation of governance structures, strengthening law and order, and bringing administration closer to the people, particularly in remote and far-flung areas.
The Lieutenant Governor exhorted the newly appointed officials to take charge of their respective districts without any delay.
Saxena said that the remaining posts of subordinate officials will also be filled on priority, along with fulfilling logistical requirements, to ensure smooth and effective functioning. He added that a robust administrative framework is being put in place to support long-term governance and development goals and to translate the vision of district creation into tangible benefits for the people.
According to the government order, Nitish Rajoria has been posted as Deputy Commissioner of Changthang, while SZ Abbas Jaffari has been appointed Superintendent of Police.
Mukul Beniwal and Stanzin Losal have been appointed as Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Nubra, respectively.
Omkar Rajendra Gundage and Rigzen Sandup have been posted as Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Zanskar, respectively. Kunzes Angmo and Aijaz Malik have been appointed Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Sham, respectively.
