L-G Sinha reviews infrastructure, security for Amarnath Yatra at Baltal

The Lieutenant Governor reviewed infrastructure, security arrangements and other measures to ensure all preparations are completed well in time.

He directed all stakeholder departments to ensure that every required facility is in place so that devotees of Lord Shiva undertake the pilgrimage in a safe, comfortable and well-organised environment.

"My priority is that every pilgrim enjoys the spiritual journey and returns with a truly enriching and fulfilling experience. The sacred Yatra is a celebration of faith and shared devotion, and the arrangements should reflect that spirit by ensuring every pilgrim is well cared for," the Lieutenant Governor said.

Sinha reviewed arrangements related to sanitation, evacuation plans, weather forecasting, holding areas for pilgrims, parking facilities, langars, transportation, healthcare services, drinking water and power supply, buffer stocks of essential commodities, road maintenance, flood mitigation measures, disaster management preparedness, animal husbandry services, registration counters and other essential infrastructure.

He directed the police and other security agencies to maintain the highest level of vigilance and ensure seamless coordination for the safety and security of all pilgrims.

Stressing efficient pilgrim management, the Lieutenant Governor instructed the concerned departments to increase the number of on-the-spot registration counters to facilitate faster registration and minimise waiting time for devotees.

Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal presented a comprehensive overview of the preparations being made by various line departments for the annual pilgrimage.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Ganderbal, also briefed the meeting on the security plan, including deployment of personnel, area domination, surveillance measures, access control, traffic management and emergency response mechanisms.
