Lions Club honours 146 teachers

Lions Club Hoshiarpur Prince, under the leadership of president Ranjit Singh Rana, organised a state-level function dedicated to teachers. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal was the chief guest, besides DEO Lalita Arora was present. As many as 146 teachers from different districts of the state were honoured.

DC Komal Mittal said teachers were the builders of society and the country. She said it was because of her teachers that she was an officer today as they paved the way for her. She said everyone should respect teachers. A teacher should inspire children to serve the country and society, she added.

DEO Lalita Arora said there was no greater honour and respect for the teachers than their students becoming responsible citizens. deputy chief engineer Dr Surinder Pal Sondhi, vice-chairman Multiple Council Lions Club and vice district governor GS Bhatia said Lions Club was dedicated to social service all over the world.

They said there was a need to work in the field of education, health and connecting the new generation with sports.

Deputy DEO (S) of Nawanshahr, Amarjeet Khatkar, appreciated the efforts of the club and said, “We can never repay the debt of our teachers. Just as parents give birth to us, a teacher, a guru, prepares a person for his role in running this world.” President Ranjit Singh Rana, Dr Ratna Chand, Aajyapal Singh Sahni, Shailendra Thakur, Tarlochan Singh, Chandra Prakash and Manjeet Kaur were also present.
