Mehbooba Mufti criticises Organisation of Islamic Cooperation for ‘betraying’ Muslim world
Slams OIC for standing like 'mute spectator' in US-Israel-Iran conflict
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday criticised the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for standing like a “mute spectator” in the US-Israel-Iran conflict.
Mufti wrote on X: It is deeply disturbing that the OIC stands as a mute spectator while America and Israel commit blatant aggression against the sovereignty of Iran.”
“Its silence on the martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader and its attempt to shift blame onto Iran are not only alarming but disgraceful,” Mufti said.
She said, “Instead of condemning this brazen attack on Iran, it has chosen silence, covertly endorsing the actions of the Epstein gang.”
“This represents a grave betrayal of the collective conscience and interests of the Muslim ummah (community),” Mufti said.
Hostilities continue to intensify across West Asia after the US and Israel launched airstrikes on Iran, killing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali. Iran also launched missile and drone strikes targeting military assets of the United States across the Gulf, triggering explosions in Dubai, Doha and Manama.
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is an inter-governmental organisation which has membership of dozens of countries.
