A militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Nowgam area of Srinagar on Wednesday.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Wagoora of Nowgam late Tuesday night following information about the presence of militants. The search operation turned into an encounter in which one militant was killed. He has been identified as Uzair Ashraf Dar of the Wachi- Zainapora area in Shopian district. A senior J&K Police official said, “A series of steps have already been taken to prevent locals from joining militancy”. — TNS
