Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the first edition of the Sikh Cricket Premier League in Jammu, calling it more than just a sporting event — a cultural and social initiative aimed at fostering youth empowerment and community development in Jammu and Kashmir.

“This league is a testament to the commitment toward holistic community development, providing the Sikh youth with opportunities to grow while preserving their rich heritage and values,” Sinha said. He congratulated the All J&K Sikh Coordination Committee for organising the event, emphasising its role in empowering the Sikh community and instilling a sense of pride and responsibility among the youth.

The Lieutenant Governor highlighted the government’s focus on inclusive growth, ensuring socio-economic upliftment across all communities. He stressed that such initiatives help promote unity, discipline and harmony while contributing to equitable development.

Sinha also underscored the importance of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in creating opportunities for the youth. “I firmly believe that the goals of development and empowerment should be driven through PPP models, enabling skilling and entrepreneurship programmes to reach the grassroots level,” he said. He recalled initiating PPP projects in 2020, which continue to provide a strong foundation for youth-centric policies.

Reaffirming his commitment to the Sikh community, the LG assured that the government is working to create a robust ecosystem where Sikh youth have access to opportunities and can contribute meaningfully to society.

“Our Sikh youth are at the centre of socio-economic transformation and we are working dedicatedly to mainstream them into the development process,” he added.

Calling on the younger generation to follow the footsteps of their great ancestors, Sinha urged them to uphold their community’s legacy and make both the Sikh community and the nation proud.

During his interaction with the media, LG Manoj Sinha asserted that security forces and the J&K Police are fully equipped to counter threats. “The Indian Army is capable and is giving a befitting reply. Our forces are working in close coordination and have been instructed to crush terrorism and its ecosystem,” he stated.

The event was attended by Ajit Singh, Chairman of the All J&K Sikh Coordination Committee, along with presidents of District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees, heads of various Sikh organisations, players, coaches and youth.

Prominent officials present included Prof Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, as well as senior police and civil administration officers.
