Srinagar, July 14

Thirteen Amarnath pilgrims were injured in separate accidents in Kulgam and Ganderbal districts on Thursday.

In Kulgam, a bus heading to the Baltal base camp, carrying around 40 pilgrims, hit a tipper near Nussu Badergund in Qazigund. Eight passengers were injured.

The second accident involving a vehicle ferrying pilgrims took place at Satrina in the Kangan area of Ganderbal. Five people sustained injuries. The injured are stable, officials said.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha said the rescue operation, launched following a flash flood near the Amarnath shrine that killed 15 pilgrims, has been called off. He said there was no report of any person missing. “Fifty-five pilgrims were injured and all, except two, have been discharged,” Sinha added. — PTI
