The police on Monday recovered an unidentified drone found abandoned in a field in a forward village of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said.
They said the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the J&K Police received information about a drone lying in a field at village Gohled in the Mendhar sector.
A police team was immediately dispatched to the spot and the drone was recovered. An investigation is underway to identify its owner.
In a separate incident, an AK assault rifle magazine and seven rounds of ammunition were recovered during search operations in the Sudhmahadev area of Chenani in Udhampur district. No arrests were made, as the recovery was from an open field.
Security forces also seized an aircraft-shaped balloon bearing the mark ‘PIA’ from Gurah Manhasa village in the Pragwal area of Akhnoor sector. The balloon was found abandoned in an agricultural field and is believed to have drifted across the border due to wind, officials said.
