Authorities in Udhampur have intensified preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, focusing on strengthening security and improving facilities for pilgrims.

Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa announced that Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) kiosks will be installed at the Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Railway Station to help track and assist pilgrims during the journey.

Officials are also upgrading essential infrastructure, including sanitation facilities and accommodation. A total of 31 lodging centres have been designated to manage the expected influx of pilgrims.

Security arrangements are being reinforced along the route. Commandant N. Ranbir Singh of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) stated that ensuring a safe and smooth pilgrimage is the top priority.

“Our preparations have already begun. Maximum deployment of personnel and resources will be ensured. We are maintaining high alertness and activating intelligence systems for a successful Yatra,” he said.

He added that security coverage spans from the Nashri portal of the Chenani-Nashri Tunnel through Ramban town to Digdol. Road Opening Patrol (ROP) duties will begin early each morning and continue throughout the day, with adjustments based on movement schedules.
