The District Employment and Counselling Centre, Kishtwar, on Tuesday organised a Mega Women’s Entrepreneurship and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) Mela under Mission YUVA at the Conference Hall of the DC Office.
Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma attended the event as chief guest and inaugurated the mela by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Around 500 women entrepreneurs, SHG members and aspirants from different parts of the district participated in the event. Officers from various departments provided on-the-spot guidance on government schemes, financial assistance, skill development programmes and market linkage support.
Women entrepreneurs and SHG members showcased a wide range of products, including handicrafts, embroidery, handloom items, tailoring products, processed food items and other micro-enterprise outputs. The stalls reflected the creativity, skill and entrepreneurial potential of women in Kishtwar.
As a mark of recognition, top-performing women entrepreneurs were felicitated with trophies, encouraging participants and acknowledging their contribution towards economic self-reliance.
The mela served as an important platform to promote entrepreneurship among women and strengthen awareness about livelihood opportunities in the district.
The event was held under the guidance of Assistant Director Employment Mamta Sudershan and was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Kotwal, Assistant Director Handicrafts Pardeep Shan and other officers.
