Would’ve given Pak a better bailout than IMF had it kept friendly relations: Rajnath
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday that India would have offered more money to Pakistan than what it sought from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), had Islamabad maintained good relations with India.
Rajnath Singh, who was addressing a poll rally in Gurez town of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014-15 announced a special package for the development of J&K “which had now reached ~90,000 crore.”
“The amount is much higher than what Pakistan is seeking from the IMF,” he said.
The Defence Minister then talked about Pakistan, which has strained relations with India. “Former PM late Atal Bihari Vajpayee used to say, in life, we can change friends but we cannot change the neighbours. Had Pakistan maintained good relations, we would have given more money than the IMF,” he said.
Rajnath then lashed out at Pakistan saying, India spends money on the development of J&K and to make the lives of people here better. In Pakistan, the financial aid is used for “running terrorism factories” and this has been going on for a long time.”
“I want to assure you that this business of terrorism will not last long,” he said. He said Pakistan had been exposed for spreading terrorism all over the world. Whenever India investigated terrorism incidents, it found evidence of Pakistani involvement.
“Our successive governments have tried to make Pakistan understand that they should stop terrorist training camps on its soil, but to no avail,” he said, adding that after abrogation of Article 370, Pakistan was “now frustrated and making attempts to revive terror in Jammu and Kashmir.” Issuing a stern warning to Pakistan, Rajnath said: “I want to clearly tell those people who are sitting across the border and planning to harm India, that if a big terrorist incident takes place in India, they will be killed wherever they are sitting.”
He said Pakistan was isolated now. “Even Turkey, which used to support Pakistan, has not made mention of Kashmir at the United Nation General Assembly (UNGA),” he said.
