1 dead, 2 injured in lightning strike during cricket match in Hoshiarpur
Sudden thunderstorm hits ground in Garhshankar; victims rushed to hospital, village in shock
A tragic incident was reported from the Garhshankar area of Hoshiarpur district, where a youth lost his life and two others were seriously injured after a lightning strike on Friday afternoon.
According to information, around a dozen youths from Rasoolpur village were playing cricket at a ground in nearby Bakkapur village when the incident occurred. At around 11.30 am, a sudden lightning strike hit the ground during a spell of thunder, injuring several players.
In the incident, a youth identified as Tarandeep died on the spot. His body has been kept in the mortuary of the Government Hospital in Garhshankar.
The two injured youths were immediately rushed to a hospital in Nawanshahr and later shifted to a private hospital, where their condition is stated to be stable. However, till the time of filing this report, both had not fully regained consciousness.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the village and surrounding areas.
