Sarb Naujawan Sabha and Sarb Naujawan Welfare Society (regd), in collaboration with SOSVA Punjab, organised a special certificate distribution ceremony for 100 female trainees who successfully completed various vocational courses at the Sabha’s vocational centre running at Scheme No 3, Hoshiarpur Road, Phagwara. The event was held under the leadership of Sabha president Sukhwinder Singh at Gurdwara Shaheedganj Sahib, Scheme No 3.
ADC-cum-Municipal Commissioner, Phagwara, Dr Shikha Bhagat attended the programme as the chief guest, while Jassi Banga, cultural promoter from the USA, Ram Saroa, Chairman of Dr Ambedkar Education Society (USA) and Tavinder Ram, Chairman of Market Committee Phagwara, were present as special guests. On the occasion, Dr Bhagat distributed certificates along with sewing machines and makeup kits to the trainees who had completed their courses.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Shikha Bhagat congratulated the trainees and described the initiative of Sarb Naujawan Sabha and Welfare Society as highly praiseworthy. She said that empowering young girls through vocational training and connecting them with self-employment is an important step towards strengthening society.
Special guest Jassi Banga, while speaking on the occasion, said that even while living abroad, it is the moral duty of overseas Punjabis to remain connected with their motherland and actively participate in social welfare activities. He said that such initiatives play a vital role in strengthening the social fabric.
Ram Saroa also emphasised that education and skills form the foundation of a secure future for youth and said the vocational training centre being run with the support of SOSVA Punjab is opening new avenues of employment for girls. Guru Maa Swaran Deva from the UK, who was especially present, blessed the trainees and remarked that making daughters skilled and self-reliant is one of the highest forms of social service.
