The 100th edition of the Punjab Senior Athletics Championship commenced on Thursday at the Government Arts and Sports College, Jalandhar, marking a significant milestone in the sporting calendar. Despite early morning showers, the championship began on schedule, showcasing the unwavering spirit of the participating athletes.

Athletes aged above 18 years took part in the event. More than 300 athletes from across Punjab gathered for the prestigious championship, competing in a variety of track and field disciplines. Day one featured high-energy contests in the 100m, 400m and 1500m races, alongside powerful performances in the shot put and discus throw.

The weather posed a challenge but did little to dampen the enthusiasm of both athletes and spectators. Organisers ensured all arrangements were in place to manage the wet conditions, allowing events to proceed smoothly.

Athletics enthusiasts and coaches were present to witness emerging talents and seasoned competitors giving their best. The event serves as a key platform for athletes aiming to qualify for national-level competitions.
