HOSHIARPUR: A 12-year-old boy died on the spot after being hit by a truck in Dansiwal village on the Hoshiarpur- Garhshankar road.

A 12-year-old boy died on the spot after being hit by a truck in Dansiwal village on the Hoshiarpur- Garhshankar road. The truck driver tried to run away with the vehicle after the incident but was caught by the Mahilpur police.

Mohit, alias Navi, son of Deepak Kumar and a resident of Dansiwal, was a student of Class V. His uncle Amarjeet Singh said Mohit had just got out of the house to play with his friends when a speeding truck coming from the Garhshankar side hit him and fled the spot. He died on the spot. The information regarding the truck was given to ASI Harbhajan Singh and he impounded the truck.

The ASI said the truck was being driven by Nirmal Singh of Gobind Singh Nagar, Dhangu Road, Pathankot. He was arrested and a case was being registered after recording the statement of the victim’s kin.

In another accident that occurred due to stray cattle on a road near Beh Fatton village on Datarpur-Kamahi Devi Road late on Friday night, two youths, residents of Bhandiara village, were killed.

While two others were seriously injured. They were taken to Civil Hospital, Hajipur, from where, they were later referred to a Hoshiarpur hospital. The deceased have been identified as Gurdeep Singh, son of Jeet, and Sunil Kumar, son of Devraj, while Malkit Singh and Aman Bharti were seriously injured.

Investigating officer ASI Vinod Kumar said late on Friday night, all four youths on a motorcycle were going to Kamahi Devi. When they reached near Beh Fatton village, a stray cattle came in front of them on the road and seeing it they tried to turn the motorcycle due to which it hit another vehicle. The two youths died on the spot.
