Walia alleged, "Devinder Singh has several former cases against him and had been harassing a woman resident of Jalandhar Kunj for the past some time. The woman had been complaining to the police but I intervened on her request to get an FIR registered in the case some months ago. Thereafter, the man was arrested and served jail for three months. After he came out, we came under attack from him yesterday. He first visited the woman's house and broke glasses and furniture, also targeting her and later came to my house and attacked me. My driver has sustained injuries in the attack."

Walia said when the men attacked him, he raised the alarm following which residents came out and blocked the car being driven by the attackers and roughed them up.

The police said Devinder sustained injuries after being beaten up by residents and was hurriedly taken away by his accomplice Nitin Rana in their car as they fled the scene. His current whereabouts and place of treatment are not yet known.

In the FIR, filed by the Maqsudan police, the woman complainant alleges that the attackers targeted her house (at Jalandhar Kunj) and broke glass and furniture and also tore her clothes. She alleged Devinder had been sending her indecent messages and threatening to abduct her daughter. She also alleged that he threatened her yesterday that they would kill Walia and also her husband and brothers.

The SHO said, "Devinder and his accomplice attacked the woman's house and broke glass panes, etc on Saturday. A case had also been registered four or five months ago against the same men for harassing the woman. The duo have been booked but are absconding. The police are on the lookout for them. Further investigation in the case is also on."
