2 arrested for snatching gold earring from woman in Phagwara
The Rawalpindi police have registered a case under Sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code against two residents of Jagjitpur village for allegedly cheating a woman of Rs 3.5 lakh on the pretext of arranging overseas employment for her son.
Rajinder Kaur, a resident of Jagjitpur village near Phagwara, complained that the accused assured her that they would arrange a job for her son, Ravinder Singh, in Cambodia.
According to Phagwara SP Madhvi Sharma, the accused have been identified as Boota Singh, and his son Bidhi Chand.
The complainant alleged that the accused made false representations of foreign employment opportunities and took the money from her. However, no job was arranged nor the money returned.
After an inquiry, police found prima facie evidence supporting the allegations.

Phagwara police have registered a case under Sections 304 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with Sections 379-B and 34 of the Indian Penal Code in a snatching incident in which a woman was robbed of her gold jewellery.
Two accused have been arrested.
The complainant, Nirmal Kumar, a resident of Taki Mohalla, Phagwara, said that on January 31, he, along with his wife, was riding a motorcycle. Two youths riding a scooter intercepted them and snatched a gold earring, weighing approximately 4 gm, from the complainant’s wife and fled the spot.
During investigation, the police identified the accused as Jaspreet alias Prince and Parvinder Singh, both residents of Baba Fateh Singh Nagar, Phagwara. The two were subsequently arrested.
