2 booked for suicide of Banga youth
Suicide cases are increasing in Jalandhar and Nawanshahr. Today, the Nawanshahr police booked two men for abetment to suicide of a Banga youth. The accused have been identified as Bunty and Santokh from Behram.
Satnam, a painter from Banga, Nawanshahr, in his complaint to the police said his younger brother Dharamvir Suman had been in depression for the last few days because of threatening calls and messages by the accused because of which he took the extreme step.
“The accused, who were his acquaintances, were demanding money from my brother. He came to me on September 1 and told me that the accused were putting pressure on him to give money or else they would kill him. I could see that he was getting into depression. I asked him that there was no need to worry as we could resolve the matter, but, he died by suicide yesterday,” his brother said in his statement to the police.
The Nawanshahr police have registered a case under Section 108 of the BNS. The accused are at large.
On Wednesday, a case of 18-year-old youth dying by suicide was also reported in which the girl was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her room. A few days ago, a man ended his life by jumping from the fourth floor and a house help was also found dead in the room.
