3 arrested for gang rape of woman, daughter; 1 accused on the run

Three men have been arrested by the Jalandhar rural police for the gang rape of a mother and daughter on the night of November 23. The duo were gang-raped while the men and children of their family were held hostage in fields at Lohian.

Two of the rapists were out on bail and had many cases against them. The fourth accomplice in the case is absconding.

The four accused have been identified as Sajan, Rocky, Arshpreet Singh, alias Arsh, and Rajan, alias Rohit, all of whom reside in Guru Nanak Colony, Lohian. Of the four, Rajan is still on the run.

Harvinder Singh Virk, SSP Rural, Jalandhar, said on the intervening night of November 23 and 24, at 12.30 am in the night, the woman and her daughter were gang-raped by the four men after being threatened with sharp-edged weapons, and the woman's son-in-law and three children were held hostage at King Kalan village in Lohian.

The victims, who work in fields as hired labourers, complained to the police that the accused forcibly entered the motor room in the fields on the fateful night and beat them up. The elder woman's son-in-law and three children were locked up in another room. The widowed woman, aged 35, and her 19-year-old daughter were threatened and taken into another room and gang-raped by the four men.

A case was registered under Sections 64, 70(1) and 351 (2) of the BNS at the Lohian police station on November 24.

Informing the press, SSP Rural Harvinder Singh Virk said seeing the nature of the sensational crime, DIG Jalandhar Range Naveen Singla constituted a special team to probe the case and trace the culprits.

DSP, Investigation, Sarabjit Rai said Sajan, Rocky and Arshpreet were arrested by the Lohian police and two motorbikes (Hero Splendour and Bajaj Platina) along with sharp-edged weapons used by the accused during the incident were also seized from them. Raids were on to nab Rajan, he said.

During investigations, the arrested trio confessed to have committed the crime. They said they also committed a theft and drank liquor afterwards. Both Sajan and Rocky were out on bail from the Kapurthala jail, since August 12, 2025 and July 8, 2025, respectively.

The police said the men were presented in court and remanded to police custody.
