3 gangsters nabbed with arms by Kapurthala

Kapurthala police have arrested three of the five members of a gang and seized two pistols, two kattas, 23 live bullets and a scooter from their possession.
Talwandi Choudhrian police in Kapurthala arrested them as they were allegedly planning to loot a petrol pump. Those arrested have been identified as Surinder Singh of Khijarpur village, Gursewak Singh of Thattanawan village and Gurwinder Singh of Tibba village in Talwandi Choudhrian, while two of their accomplices — Princepal Singh of Amanipur village and Guramarjit Singh of Mundi Shehriyan village — are still at large.
Kapurthala SSP Rajabachan Singh Sandhu said the gang members were nabbed as part of a special ongoing drive to counter activities of gangsters in the district.
The police said during a naka at a T-point, Bidhipur, on Thursday, two youngsters riding scooter crossed the naka. As the scooter was at a high speed, the driver lost control of it and rammed it into an electricity pole.
In the accident scooter driver Gursewak sustained head injuries and pillion rider Surinder Singh received minor injuries. The police said both were immediately rushed to the Tibba Civil Hospital. During the course of this event, a pistol was recovered from Surinder Singh. A case under Sections 25, 54, 59, 399 and 402 of the IPC was registered against the accused.
During investigation, accused Surinder said five of their gang members (including him) had chalked out a plan to loot the Bhoolpur petrol pump.On his information, the police arrested their third accomplice Gurwinder. He revealed they had a tremendous armoury in order to succeed in their plan and had buried it in a pit. Acting promptly, the police took the accused to the spot where the armoury had been buried. The police said more recoveries were anticipated during the course of investigation.
While Gursewak is still in hospital, the other two arrested accused are in the police custody, officials said.
