3 killed in road mishap

TARN TARAN: Three persons were killed in a road accident on the Tarn Taran-Jandiala road, near Malia village, six km from here, on Friday evening.

Three persons were killed in a road accident on the Tarn Taran-Jandiala road, near Malia village, six km from here, on Friday evening. The accident occurred when a “speeding” truck (PB-05-AB-9260) hit a motorcycle (PB-46-Z-5620) head on. The deceased have been identified as Balwinder Singh (47) of Mohalla Jaswant Singh, Jaspal Singh (15) and Lovepreet Singh of None village. Balwinder and Jaspal died on the spot while Lovepreet Singh died on the way to hospital.

ASI Kewal Singh, investigating officer (IO), said Balwinder, who worked as a security guard in Manawala village, after his duty hours was returning on his bike. Jaspal and his friend Lovepreet, who were there at the bus stop in None village, signalled him to stop and requested to drop them in Tarn Taran to witness Dasehra celebrations. They met with an accident near Malia village on the outskirts of the town. The driver of the truck, who escaped from the spot, has been booked under Sections 304-A, 279 and 427 of the IPC. — OC
