On the occasion of World Blood Donors’ Day on Tuesday, a blood donation camp, lecture and free bone density test for women was organised at Composite Hospital, Frontier HQ BSF, Jalandhar.
The blood donation camp was organised in collaboration with Blood Bank, Civil Hospital, Jalandhar. It was inaugurated by Shaheen Parween, BSF Women Welfare Association (BWWA) president of Punjab Frontier, who led volunteer Seema Praharis in blood donation. As many as 35 personnel, including three women, donated blood.
BWWA president emphasised on need for more such camps in the backdrop of vast requirement of blood in the prevailing situation. “The BSF, in addition to its border duties, is also working towards such a noble and social cause,” she said as she expressed her gratitude to the doctors, staff and volunteer troops present on the occasion.
A lecture on osteoporosis in women and bone density was delivered by Dr Vaibhav Gandhi, Ortho Specialist (Civil Hospital, Jalandhar) at Family Welfare Centre, Frontier headquarters, BSF Jalandhar. A free densitometry test for women was conducted after the lecture.
