39th National Eye Donation Awareness Fortnight launched

Under the 39th National Eye Donation Awareness Fortnight, Punjab Cabinet Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa launched an eye donation awareness campaign at the Eye Donation Association’s office at the Civil Hospital here on Monday.
Emphasizing the importance of eye donation, he said the eye donation association had been doing selfless service for the last 25 years. The association had done important work to make people aware about eye donation by organising various seminars and awareness programs across the state.
The Cabinet Minister said eye donation was a great service, which could fill someone’s world with light. He said, “To free the country from corneal blindness, we all should be aware of eye donation and inspire others. A small initiative can bring a big change in someone’s life. Therefore, everyone should participate in this noble work and inspire as many people as possible to donate eyes”.
Prof Bahadur Singh Sunet, patron of Eye Donation Association, informed that Mayor Surinder Kumar Shinda filled the pledge form for eye donation while Cabinet Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa had already filled the pledge form for eye donation. Prof Sunet said the main objective of the association was to free the country from corneal blindness.
