Five months since the incident, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has arrested two absconding accused involved in a firing incident near ‘Off the Grid’ gym, Model Town, here. The police have also recovered two .32 bore pistols and two cartridges from their possession.
Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur said an FIR was registered on July 2. On July 23, the police had arrested Bhupinder Singh, resident of Aur, Nawanshahr, and recovered one pistol and one cartridge from him.
Activist Simranjit Singh had been targeted during the firing incident. He had rushed back to the gym after the assailants had missed the shots.
Further investigation and technical sources led the police to arrest two more accused involved in the incident. The accused have been identified as Rajat and Hardeep Singh, both residents of Pholariwal. Police have recovered two pistols and two cartridges from them.
Accused Rajat is previously involved in a criminal case, while accused Hardeep Singh is facing two criminal cases. Both accused have been remanded to police custody and further investigation is underway.
