Phagwara, December 12
The police seized 6,900 bottles of liquor, kept in 575 cartoons in three vehicles and nabbed three accused identified as Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Ottawa village, near Samrala today.
Two accused, identified as Balhar Singh, a resident of Jatana Ucha village, near Samrala; and Avtar Singh, a resident of Bhunga village, falling under the Hoshiarpur District; managed to escape, leaving the vehicles behind.
This was stated by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Investigation, Manpreet Singh Dhillon, here today. He said all vehicles, including a Swift car, a tempoo and a Tata Canter had been impounded.
The DSP said the suspect brought the liquor from Chandigarh to sell it in Punjab. The suspect was nabbed near Rehana Jattan village, on Phagwara-Hoshiarpur Road. — OC
