A woman was shot dead by an unidentified assailant at Mahindwani Gujran village in Garhshankar in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur on Tuesday morning.

A 62-year-old woman was shot dead by an unidentified assailant at Mahindwani Gujran village in Garhshankar in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur on Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Rachna Devi, wife of Sham Lal.

According to police, Rachna was returning home after offering prayers at a nearby religious place around 6 am, when a motorcycle-borne attacker opened fire at her.

She was rushed to the Civil Hospital in an injured condition but succumbed to her injuries on the way.

ASI Omkar Singh, incharge of Police Chowki Beenewal, said that investigations are underway and the accused will be arrested soon.
