8 drug peddlers held in Hoshiarpur
As part of a special drive against drug abuse, the district's police arrested eight drug peddlers under the NDPS Act from different police station areas in the district in a single day. A large quantity of intoxicant tablets, drug-laced silver paper, lighters and cash were recovered from their possession.
According to the police, the arrests were made during patrolling and naka-checking operations in the areas of Bullowal, Mukerian, Dasuya, Chabbewal, Hajipur and the City police station.
From the Bullowal area, 79 intoxicant tablets were seized, while in Mukerian drug-laced paper and a lighter were recovered. In Dasuya, 53 and 28 tablets were seized in two separate cases. In Chabbewal, the police recovered 52 and 55 tablets in two different cases, while 28 tablets were seized in Hajipur. In the City area, drug-laced material was also recovered.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ravi Rai, Rajan Kumar alias Raja, Ranjit Singh, Gurpreet Singh alias Sabi, Jitender Singh alias Johnny, Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, Rajnish Kumar alias Gungar and Sunny. Separate cases under the NDPS Act have been registered against them.
