In a major boost to indigenous railway manufacturing, the Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala has successfully produced its first Vande Bharat Express train, with the upgraded 16-coaches now in the final stage and ready for induction into service. The train is scheduled to be handed over for operations by the end of the month, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of advanced train manufacturing capabilities in the country.
A 14-member media delegation from Chhattisgarh, currently on a Punjab tour organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), visited the Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala, on Wednesday. During the visit, the journalists witnessed the end-to-end coach manufacturing process and gained first-hand insight into how a modern railway coach is built-from raw steel to a fully equipped, passenger-ready unit.
Interacting with the visiting delegation, deputy general manager Aman Kumar elaborated on the technological advancements and continuous innovations incorporated in the latest version of Vande Bharat coaches. He informed that this is the first time that Vande Bharat coaches are being manufactured at RCF Kapurthala, expanding production beyond the Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, where the train was originally designed and developed. The move is expected to significantly enhance the production capacity of the Indian Railways.
