Experts from the defence forces, young IAS, IPS and PCS officers, along with other dignitaries, have been roped in by the administration to apprise students of career-related guidance during the upcoming ‘Spark- Career Guidance Mela’.

Presiding over a review meeting for the event at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Varinder Kumar Sharma, said: “The event will commence on December 17 with a mini marathon to disseminate the message of healthy and drug-free Punjab.

The DC said: “The mini marathon will commence from Guru Gobind Stadium on Monday at 6:30 am and culminate at the same venue after passing through Chun-Mun Chowk, APJ School, BMC Chowk, Namdev Chowk, Skylark Chowk, Guru Nanak Mission Chowk and Milk Bar Chowk.”

He said: “The formal inauguration of the fest will take place on December 18, during which as many as 30,000 students take part.”

“During the two-day event, experts from the varied fields will provide career-related guidance to students through interactive sessions. The aim behind organising the event was to provide guidance to students of Class IX to XII, who were on the threshold of opting for their career,” added the DC.

The DC assured that the district administration had made planning to ensure that the event was a perfect blend of academics, extra-curricular activities along with the sporting events.

He said besides focusing on the career guidance, the fest would also ensure holistic development of the overall personality of the students, for which sporting, cultural and other events by the students have been arranged in this fest.

The DC said the administration had already made elaborate arrangements to ensure that students do not face any sort of problem, adding that stalls would be installed by various educational institutions, who would advise the students on this matter.
