Mahashivratri was celebrated with great enthusiasm at RRM Autism Therapeutic School, run by the Sonalika Group for ‘Artistic children’ in Hoshiarpur. The event was held under the guidance of noted social and spiritual mentor Sangeeta Mittal, who graced the occasion with her presence.

The school campus came alive with joy and devotion as children dressed up as Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha, Kartikeya, Ashok Sundari and Nandi. The young participants took part in a symbolic Shiv Baraat procession and danced with great excitement, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere.

Addressing the gathering, Sangeeta Mittal highlighted the deeper significance of Mahashivratri. She said the festival provides a unique opportunity to understand traditions in depth and help children connect with them meaningfully. "To understand Shiva is to understand the vast form of consciousness," she remarked. She emphasised the importance of balancing the five elements in life, earth through grounding practices, water through emotional flow, fire through energy balance, air through pranayama, and space through meditation. Achieving harmony among these elements, she said, leads to inner completeness.

School Principal Anishma Sharma said that organising such festivals helps children connect with their culture and traditions, enabling them to better understand their identity. Therapeutic school teachers and therapists, Palak, Diksha, Mehak, Kashish, Sonam, Kanika, Harman, Manjeet, Yamini and Jyoti, played a significant role in organising the event. The celebration concluded with the distribution of prasad to mark the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri.
