Jalandhar, March 28

A Punjab Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) today lost his life in an accident at the Chugitti flyover here. The deceased has been identified as Richard Masih (45), a resident of Amritsar. He was reportedly coming from Amritsar and was heading towards the Ludhiana side for curfew duty.

The SHO, Rama Mandi, Sulakhan Singh, said the accident took place around 7.30 in the morning after the car, which the deceased was driving, went out of control and overturned multiple times. Apparently, the accident took place due to the accumulated water in a pothole.

A PCR van immediately reached the spot after receiving information about the accident. However, the ASI died on the spot, the SHO said.

The deceased was survived by his wife and two children. His body was handed over to his department in the evening after autopsy.
