A 10-member delegation of eminent professors and researchers from Australia’s La Trobe University came down to Lovely Professional University (LPU) campus for strengthening academic and research collaborations. The delegates deliberated upon deeper academic collaborations and student mobility programmes between the two universities.

Head Division of International Affairs Aman Mittal made a presentation on the internationalisation plan at LPU. Discussions dwelt on future collaborations on joint research projects with scientists and researchers at LPU.

Senior Executive Dean Dharam Buddhi informed the delegates about various research activities and strategies adopted at the university. In the past, both universities had collaborated on various academic parameters.

The delegation included Prof Kok-Leong Ong, who held a panel discussion and a faculty interaction programme; Dr David Walker and Dr Thomas John Mcnamara, both had a group discussion with the MBA students; Associate Professors Simon Egerton and Andriy Olenko talked about partnership prospects between the two universities; Dr Sandra Leggat talked about joint research and student mobility programmes; Dr Peter Barnard interacted with the PhD students and researchers; Senior lecturer Dr Vipul Patel guided the students about the prospects of civil engineering; and Regional Director- South Asia and Africa (La Trobe International) Amit Malhotra and Saurabh co-ordinated for partnership discussions.

The delegation had varied representation from the Schools of Business; Psychology & Public Health; Molecular Sciences; Computer Sciences & Info Tech; Civil Engineering; Humanities & Social Sciences; Mathematics & Statistics; and Department of International Development programme.

A panel discussion was held on “Future of jobs”. Leader in analytics education, Professor Ong, who has till date attracted over $620,000 for research, mesmerised the students.

The La Trobe University is investing on research, building on existing strength areas, which include life sciences, water management and policy, planning and communication.
