Auto-scooter collision leaves 2 hurt in Phagwara

Two persons were injured after a head-on collision between an auto-rickshaw and a scooter on the busy GT Road on Monday evening. The accident caused brief traffic disruption in the area and drew the attention of passers-by, who helped in shifting the injured to hospital.

Mulakh Raj, a resident of village Mehtan, was travelling towards his home from Phagwara in an auto-rickshaw when the vehicle collided with a scooter coming from the opposite direction near the hotel. The impact of the collision resulted in injuries to both drivers.

The injured were identified as Mulakh Raj, the auto-rickshaw driver, and Chhote Lal, a resident of Chachoki, who was riding the scooter. Both were immediately taken to the Civil Hospital, Phagwara, where they were admitted for treatment. Hospital sources said their condition was stated to be stable. The cause of the accident is yet to be officially confirmed, though traffic congestion and possible negligence are suspected. The police reached the spot soon after the incident.
