As part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, the district administration and health authorities conducted a raid at a medical store in the Hadiabad area of Phagwara, leading to the seizure of banned and restricted medicines and the registration of a criminal case.
The action was carried out under the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala, Amit Kumar Panchal and Civil Surgeon Dr Sanjiv Bhagat. The joint inspection team was led by District Drug Controller Anupama Kalia along with District Drug Control Officer, Jalandhar, Parminder Singh, in coordination with a police party.
During the raid, officials recovered several prohibited medicines from the medical store. As the store operator failed to produce mandatory purchase and sale records before the inspection team, four types of allopathic medicines worth Rs 1,995 were seized. In addition, other regulated medicines were also found in possession of the store without valid authorisation or supporting documents.
Acting on the directions of the DC and in accordance with applicable sections of the BNS, strict action was initiated.
The district administration reiterated that such enforcement drives will continue across Kapurthala district to curb the illegal sale of banned and misused medicines. The authorities also warned medical store operators to strictly comply with drug control laws, maintain proper records and ensure that no prohibited substances are stocked or sold, failing which stringent legal action will be taken.
