BJP holds key strategy meet for Hoshiarpur municipal polls

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a key meeting of its municipal election committee here under the chairmanship of district president Nipun Sharma to strategize for the upcoming Hoshiarpur Municipal Corporation elections, expressing confidence of a decisive victory.

Former Union Minister of State Vijay Sampla, state general secretary Rakesh Rathore, state secretaries Rakesh Sharma and Meenu Sethi and municipal poll co-incharge Sushil Sharma were present at the meeting.

Among others, district general secretaries Bindusar Shukla, Jindu Saini and Jasvir Singh, along with mandal presidents Prem Bajaj, Sanjeev Arora, Manjinder Siyan, Akshay Vashisht and Ashok Kumar, also attended the meeting.

Detailed deliberations were held on poll preparedness. Feedback was sought from mandal-level leaders, with emphasis on strengthening the organisation at the grassroots. The state leadership directed that the application process for aspiring candidates be conducted in a transparent and systematic manner.

Rakesh Rathore instructed that all applications for councillor candidates be thoroughly scrutinised and only deserving and dedicated candidates be shortlisted to ensure a strong electoral contest. He expressed confidence that the party would secure a historic victory on the strength of its policies, committed cadre and public support.

Vijay Sampla, in his address, criticised the Punjab Government, alleging that people were facing hardships due to what he termed arbitrary and biased policies. He further accused the government of misusing the administrative machinery to suppress opposition workers, asserting that the BJP would continue to fight against such practices and stand up for democratic values.
